I used fiber glass over foam construction, because the foam was easy to cut and shape to the contours of the hull and deck.  I had to coat the foam prior to fiberglassing as the resin tends to eat the foam.

This new ‘box’ will provide enough space for the anchor and the speakers, while leaving the v-berth fairly much intact.  After some more measurements, it was time to start thinking about cutting the hatch.
